2.  BE GREAT School Challenge

School or classroom funding opportunity through the

BE GREAT Youth Initiative

2014-15 Academic Year

Through the BE GREAT School Challenge, The Greg Jennings Foundation recognizes and celebrates GREAT youth at GREAT schools with a special visit to your school or classroom from Greg Jennings. In addition, up to three (3) winning schools or classrooms are awarded up to $1,000 in funds to purchase additional classroom supplies or equipment. During the school or classroom visit, Greg & Nicole Jennings address the importance of education, making good decisions, being a leader, as well as being GREAT!

The goal of the BE GREAT School Challenge is to influence, inspire and impact the youth in our community where they begin to recognize GREATness in themselves and continue to make good choices in order to achieve their lifelong desires and aspirations, with a strong emphasis on education. We firmly believe that with assistance from teachers and other group leaders, the youth will share with us directly, through any medium they feel most comfortable, how they see themselves being great and what their goals are to BE GREAT in the future. The Greg Jennings Foundation would like to support the students and teachers and their goals by contributing to their schools, so they can have the books and supplies necessary to focus on GREATness.

All elementary, middle, and high schools, classrooms or school groups located in the Greater Kalamazoo & Minneapolis communities are invited to submit proposals

to The Greg Jennings Foundation beginning November 3, 2014!

In 2012 and 2013, schools throughout the Greater Kalamazoo area were challenged to submit group multimedia projects (any medium accepted) about how they live out these values and how the specific focus is represented by the youth and implemented into the school culture. We received numerous submissions of videos,  picture books, student news casts, art illustrations, notes from students and musical numbers.

Greg and Nicole Jennings were so pleased to visit the winning schools and they look forward to recognizing greatness in your school for the 2014-15 academic year!

3.  BE GREAT Back to School
Distribution of school supplies to students in need

The Greg Jennings Foundation always looks forward to the numerous opportunities presented during Back to School season! At the beginning of each new school year, we continue our impact by partnering with prominent organizations in our communities in order to provide our K-12 students with back to school supplies.  On Friday, August 15, 2014, The Greg Jennings Foundation once again partnered with the Family Health Center, as they hosted their Annual Back To School Bash from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

To date, The Greg Jennings Foundation has distributed over 6,000 school supplies to the Back to School Bash participants, where they received a new backpack filled with school supplies all provided by the Family Health Center, along with additional school supplies from participating community organizations.  Each year, The Greg Jennings Foundation is excited to meet the youth and their families and encourage a GREAT start to a GREAT school year!
