2016 - 2017 BE GREAT After School Program Grant 

 Nonprofit youth serving academic after school programs grant opportunity

 
 The Greg Jennings Foundation is pleased to provide our BE GREAT After School Program Grant as a part of the BE GREAT Youth Initiative.
 
 
 
Each year qualifying nonprofit youth serving organizations located in the Greater Kalamazoo and Minneapolis communities submit online grant proposals requesting up to $25,000 each academic year.
 
 
  

BE GREAT After School Program Grant Goal:

The goal for this grant program is to empower and equip youth for greatness by raising the capacity of youth development programs that deliver established high quality,
learning-centered, after school programming. As a result of our efforts, The Greg Jennings Foundation has invested:
 
  • $50,000 through the BE GREAT After School Program Grant in the Greater Kalamazoo and Wisconsin communities for the 2012-13 academic year
  • $50,000 through the BE GREAT After School Program Grant in the Greater Kalamazoo and Minneapolis communities for the 2013-14 academic year
  • $50,000 through the BE GREAT After School Program Grant in the Greater Kalamazoo and Minneapolis communities for the 2014-15 academic year
  • $50.000 through the BE GREAT After School Program Grant in the Greater Kalamazoo and Minneapolis communities for the 2015-16 academic year

We are pleased to continue to extend this opportunity for the fifth year to the Greater Kalamazoo and Minneapolis for the 2016-17 academic year.

Qualifying Organizations Defined: Nonprofit youth serving organizations with established After School Programs

focused on youth education located in the Greater Kalamazoo and Minneapolis communities.

BE GREAT School Challenge
 
 
  Through the BE GREAT School Challenge, The Greg Jennings Foundation recognizes and celebrates GREAT youth at a GREAT schools with a special visit to your school or classroom from Greg Jennings. In addition, up to three (3) winning schools or classrooms are awarded up to $1,000 in funds to purchase additional classroom supplies or equipment. During the school or classroom visit, Greg Jennings will address the importance of education, making good decisions, being a leader, as well as being GREAT!

 The goal of the BE GREAT School Challenge is to influenceinspire and impact the youth in our community where they begin to recognize GREATness in themselves and continue to make good choices in order to achieve their lifelong desires and aspirations, with a strong emphasis on education. We firmly believe that with assistance from teachers and other group leaders, the youth will share with us how they see themselves being great and what their goals are to BE GREAT in the future. The Greg Jennings Foundation would like to support the students and teachers and their goals by contributing to their schools, so they can have the books and supplies necessary to focus on GREATness.

Distribution of school supplies to students in need
 
 
The Greg Jennings Foundation always looks forward to the numerous opportunities presented during Back to School season! At the beginning of the new school year, we continued our impact (along with prominent organizations in our communities) by providing our K-12 students with back to school supplies. Partnering with the Family Health Center, The Greg Jennings Foundation has distributed over 9,000 school supplies to the Back to School Bash participants.  Each year, The Greg Jennings Foundation is excited to meet youth and their families and encourage a GREAT start to a GREAT school year!

 The Greg Jennings Foundation Scholarship

for Multi-Cultural Abroad Studies

 

The Greg Jennings Foundation provides funding opportunities for the best and brightest American students with the educational tools required to reach their full potential.  Up to $15,000 is given annually to fund life changing imulti-cultural exchange experiences for scholars, from Minneapolis and greater Kalamazoo area, whose families are facing economic hardship.
 
Students who are nominated represent the best of Minneapolis and greater Kalamazoo communities and demonstrate the highest potential to thrive abroad. Final student nominations are based on the following criteria:
·         Academics
·         Leadership
·         International/Multi-Cultural Learning
